Who doesn’t like flowers?  Flowers are natures way of smiling at us… I remembered a quote that was something like that.

Well, the real quote is this…

The earth laughs with flowers.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Finding time to balance a job, family, and creative pursuits is nearly impossible, but we busy moms manage it all somehow. 😉  But do we really?  Are we getting the best out of ourselves?  I think sometimes we don’t because we don’t think of ourselves first or take time out for just us, if at all, but sometimes we just have to.

And you know what, as I say this on behalf of all moms… WE DESERVE IT!  Like treating yourself to things you enjoy – taking just a few minutes to observe the beauty around you,  maybe it’s me time at the salon, or a much needed nap, or a quiet walk alone – for me, it’s treating myself to something beautiful, something that inspires me.  I have a soft spot for flowers.

As an artist, I see more than just flowers.  I see the pure aesthetic experience of the colors, shapes, fragrance, and just let my mind wander observing them.  Flowers inspire me and when I look at them I see them as paintings and creative sparks fill my mind, the visions of paintings yet to be.

When given the opportunity to order some flowers from The Bouqs – I jumped at the chance.  My painterly love of flowers could not wait for them to arrive in the mail.   (Disclosure:  I was provided a review bouquet of flowers courtesy of The Bouqs Co.)

Not only had I heard of them on one of my favorite shows, Shark Tank, but I also remembered their message…

Honestly though, when you get down to it, we’re not in the business of flowers. We’re in the business of helping you to be the best husband/boyfriend/son/daughter/brother/friend/cousin/colleague/whatever you can possibly be. And we’re gonna make it easy on you.”

Every now and then I like to pick up some flowers to brighten up our home, add a little beauty to our surroundings.  I’m usually disappointed at the speed in which these store bought flowers simply go limp and die, as I’m sure you are.  Also – aren’t flowers supposed to smell good?  I don’t know about you, but I like the whole experience of fresh flowers, seeing them open and bloom, smelling them as I walk by.  Let’s be real – usually none of that happens with store bought flowers.  You may pick up some beautiful roses, but they usually die before they even open, talk about a let down.

If you’re looking for real flowers and a better experience, then The Bouqs Co. delivers.  My whole experience with The Bouqs Co. was amazing.  From prompt response via email to update me on my shipment delivery to a gorgeous arrangement that arrived exactly as promised.

I was excited to receive my package and couldn’t wait to arrange them…

As if that wasn’t good enough… they opened up just like REAL FLOWERS should.  I really appreciated the freshness of the flowers as they opened up, I pulled off a few wilting petals here and there and I was AMAZED at how long they lasted.

Some roses lasted a little longer than others as one would expect.  All in all – they were SPECTACULAR.  The pictures below speak for themselves.

Here is the progression of my flowers…

Check out the beauty up close!

I’m definitely not the only artist who’s been inspired by flowers.  See what some other amazing famous artists have had to say about flowers…

I am following Nature without being able to grasp her, I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.  ~ Claude Monet

There are always flowers for those who want to see them.  ~ Henri Matisse

The artist is the confidant of nature, flowers carry on dialogues with him through the graceful bending of their stems and the harmoniously tinted nuances of their blossoms. Every flower has a cordial word which nature directs towards him.  ~ Auguste Rodin

Even if I don’t have time to paint them now… I’ve already painted them in my mind.  I think I’ll be sending myself flowers more often, and only from The Bouqs Co.
